Liechtenstein proves that a short break can offer far more than you might expect. In the capital, Vaduz, culture, gastronomy and history are all within easy walking distance. The pedestrian-friendly town centre brings together museums, restaurants, cafés and shopping opportunities in one compact area. Art is everywhere, not only inside the museums but also throughout the public spaces.

Enjoyment on Every Level

A walk to the «Känzile» viewing terrace offers impressive views over Vaduz and the Rhine Valley. For a memorable culinary experience, a visit to the Prince of Liechtenstein Winery is highly recommended. Those wishing to complement their stay with an excursion into the mountains can reach the alpine resorts of Steg and Malbun from Vaduz in around 20 to 30 minutes.

Holidays in Liechtenstein

Vaduz Museum Mile

Over just a few hundred metres, Vaduz's Museum Mile brings together six museums of international calibre. Discover modern and contemporary art, explore the history of the Principality, learn about the fascinating world of philately, or admire unique treasures from the Princely collections. The Kunstmuseum Liechtenstein and the Hilti Art Foundation showcase outstanding works from classical modernism to contemporary art. At the Liechtenstein Treasury, remarkable exhibits include the Princely Hat, the Fabergé Apple Blossom Egg and moon rocks from the Apollo missions.

Prince of Liechtenstein Winery

A visit to the Prince of Liechtenstein Winery offers a fascinating introduction to the country's winemaking tradition. The vines grow in Herawingert, one of the Rhine Valley's finest vineyard locations. During a tasting, you will gain insight into the history of the Princely winery while sampling selected Pinot Noir and Chardonnay wines.

From the Town Centre to the Mountains

The mountain villages of Steg and Malbun are just 20 to 30 minutes from Vaduz. Around Lake Gängle and the Steg reservoir, scenic walking trails invite you to slow down and enjoy the landscape. One particularly rewarding excursion leads to Alp Valüna, where regional specialities are served in an authentic alpine setting. These short distances are exactly what make Liechtenstein such an appealing destination for a varied short break.
