Open Air Festivals

One of the most beautiful historic squares in the capital - for many even the most beautiful square in Europe - has now been completely renovated: The Gendarmenmarkt invites you to take a stroll and enjoy the Classic Open Air from July 17 to 21.

Other classical music events include «Staatsoper für alle», the free open-air concert on June 22 at Bebelplatz, and the Young Euro Classic festival with youth orchestras from all over the world (August 1 to 17). Another highlight ist the Philharmoniker's end-of-season concert at the Waldbühne (June 28).

Haute cuisine with a view

From June 3, 2025, the Berlin TV Tower becomes a hotspot for gourmets: Tim Raue, arguably Berlin's most famous chef, launches his new revolving restaurant “Sphere by Tim Raue” at a height of 207 meters. Fine cuisine meets spectacular panoramic views - a must for gourmets on a city break. Berlin also offers culinary diversity beyond the tower: from neighborhood cuisine to fine dining - there is food for everyone.

Relax in Berlin's coolest beach bars

As the sun shines over Berlin, the capital is transformed into a true summer oasis. Particularly popular: the numerous beach bars where guests and Berliners enjoy the day with a creative, trendy drink. A particular highlight is the Badeschiff at the Arena - a floating pool in the middle of the Spree, surrounded by a sandy beach, sun loungers and fun music. If you want to relax more actively, don't miss BeachMitte: Europe's largest beach volleyball facility combines sporty ambience with a chilled bar atmosphere. Whether sporty or relaxed - everyone will find their perfect summer day here, right by the water in the middle of Berlin.

The «Wursterei» with its currywurst is as much a part of Berlin as the Berliners themselves. Here, the sausages are cooked on a lava grill and served virtually fat-free. Fresh, regional and without preservatives - a real treat. Be sure to try it!

Berlin Wall - Works of art in passing

2019 marked the 30th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. Today, there is not much left of the former symbol of the division of Germany. One of the last pieces is located between Ostbahnhof and Oberbaumbrücke in Mühlenstrasse. This section of the Wall was painted by more than 100 international artists in 1990 and is known as the East Side Gallery. Simply hop on the underground or S-Bahn (to Warschauer Strasse or Ostbahnhof) and take a leisurely stroll along the 106 works of art on the Wall.

Sundays at the flea market

Every Sunday, Berliners are gripped by flea market fever. One of the coolest flea markets in the city awaits you at Boxhagener Platz. There are no mobile phone accessories or cheap synthetic clothes for sale here, just rows and rows of antiques, vintage fashion, clothes by young Berlin designers, vinyl records and other treasures. The visitors are a colourful mix of locals, exchange students, artists and musicians. The market is also ideal for families, as there are three playgrounds. You never go home empty-handed from Boxi!

Bikini Berlin

As Germany's first concept mall, «Bikini Berlin» is an attractive centre of attraction in the old west of Berlin. In this renovated building complex from the 1950s, you will find an exciting mix of exquisite boutiques, restaurants and pop-up stores over three floors. Special highlights include the panoramic window with a direct view of the Affenfelsen and the 7000m² roof terrace, which is laid out like an urban park. Incidentally, the shopping temple owes its unconventional name to its shape: It nestles like a bikini top between Budapester Strasse and the Zoological Garden.

Solar Berlin

The Solar Bar is located right next to the Anhalter Bahnhof railway station in the heart of Berlin. Somewhat hidden away, a lift takes guests up to the 16th floor. From here you have a unique 270° panoramic view over Berlin. While the 16th floor houses the upscale restaurant, the bar with cosy seating is located one floor higher. In the centre is a DJ booth with an integrated lift that shuttles between the two floors. The bar is open daily from 6 pm. You are on the right side here with a casual style of dress.

Party in Berlin

There are good reasons for this: No curfews, no dress code, you can go straight to breakfast after the party, no matter when and where, and best of all: the trams and buses run all night long. Augustustrasse is the place to party, Oranienstrasse is vibrant and lively, Wrangelstrasse on the banks of the Spree is the place to be, City West offers sophisticated elegance and neighbourhood flair and Simon-Dachstrasse has the most diverse restaurant scene in Berlin.
