As well as tourist attractions, Berlin also has a lot to offer in terms of history. The fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, for example, was a landmark event in German history. Take a trip back in time and visit Checkpoint Charlie on Friedrichstrasse or the fascinating "The Wall Museum" located directly on the East Side Gallery.

With its various neighbourhoods and numerous events, Germany's capital has something for everyone. But you can really feel the pulse of the metropolis in the trendy neighbourhoods. Take a seat on a wooden bench at one of the many outdoor pubs in Kreuzberg, quench your thirst with a "Berliner Kindl" and watch the people go by. Browse through the creative design shops in Prenzlauer Berg and savour the best currywurst in the world at Konnopke's Imbiss.

Berlin has plenty of good restaurants, so you can start the evening programme well fortified. Musicals, cabarets and theatre performances are available for visitors of all ages. Something special is the "Bar jeder Vernunft", a mirrored tent in the magnificent Art Nouveau style, where you can enjoy a cabaret or a play alongside a fine dinner. If you still haven't had enough after that, you can plunge into Berlin's night scene. The brave ones face the judgement of the bouncer at Berghain, one of Berlin's most famous nightclubs. The techno club is known for the fact that the bouncer's mood of the day decides who is admitted. For a cosy evening, on the other hand, we recommend a visit to the "Gainsbourg" bar in Charlottenburg, which impresses with its bohemian style and Parisian charm.
