Funicular

You can take the funicular from Körnerplatz to Luisenhof. The ride covers a distance of 550 m and a height difference of 95 meters. Once you reach the top, you can enjoy the view over the whole of Dresden. It should be noted that Luisenhof is a restaurant. There is no public viewing point at the top, but the restaurant terrace with a wonderful view.


There is a viewing platform at the top of the Historic Suspension Railway.

Experience restaurant

There are several restaurants in Dresden where you will be entertained with funny jokes and sayings in addition to the food. One example is the adventure restaurant “In den Kasematten” in Königstein. The seven Saxon kings will provide you with an entertaining evening.

Narrow-gauge railroads in Dresden Elbland

While the Weisseritz Valley Railway is considered one of the most beautiful railroad lines in Europe, the Lössnitzgrund Railway takes you off the beaten track to Moritzburg. The train stops at Moritzburg station, from where you can take a leisurely 20-minute walk to the famous fairytale castle.

Moritzburg

Moritzburg Castle is considered to be the most beautiful water castle in Saxony. The magnificent Baroque hunting castle is set in the middle of a vast pond and park, and is a magnet for visitors:indoors, young and old.

Scenes from the famous Christmas film "3 Hazelnuts for Cinderella" were filmed here. Every winter, the castle is transformed once again into the setting of the cult film, and fans can admire the original costumes and other props from the film in a special exhibition in the castle's halls.

Unique museum treasures

The state art collections display world-class masterpieces - from unique historical collections such as the Old Masters Picture Gallery and the Historic Green Vault to modern art in the Albertinum. Numerous other museums provide exciting insights and allow you to travel back in time, such as the Military History Museum, the Panometer or the Camondas Chocolate Museum.

The Dresden State Art Collections are currently dedicating an exhibition at two locations to the artist Caspar David Friedrich to mark his 250th birthday Caspar David Friedrich. Where it all began in the Albertinum from August 24, 2024 to January 5, 2025 and in the Kupferstich-Kabinett in the Residenzschloss from August 24 to November 17, 2024.

Dresden Fortress & Fortress Xperience

In the heart of Dresden, the mysterious Dresden Fortress is hidden beneath the Brühl Terraces. Built in the middle of the 16th century, the building was once one of the most modern defensive structures in Europe. The new multimedia exhibition “Fortress Xperience” takes visitors on an adventurous journey through 450 years of Dresden's history. Breathtaking 360-degree projections and atmospheric 3D sound technology unleash the well-kept secrets of Dresden Fortress.

Panometer and other unusual museums

Numerous other museums in Dresden offer exciting insights and allow you to travel back in time, such as the Military History Museum, the Panometer or the Camondas Chocolate Museum.
The Panometer now has a new panorama with the exhibition «AMAZONIA - the fascination of the tropical rainforest».
