Cycle trekking on the Drau Cycle Path
For those who are less interested in altitude metres and prefer to roll gently through the valley by bike, the Drau Cycle Path is perfect. Rated a 5-star quality cycle route by the ADFC, it is one of Austria’s most beautiful cycle paths. Between the Lienz Dolomites and the Carinthian lakes, a first-class cycling experience awaits. With plenty of nature, relaxation and leisurely rides to enjoy.

Glockner Cycle Path

Can there be a relaxed, family-friendly cycle path in the high mountains? Yes, there can. The Glockner Cycle Path follows one of Austria’s cleanest rivers from Heiligenblut, past waterfalls and spectacular gorges, all the way to Spittal an der Drau. From there, the return journey is by train.

Alpine pastures, mountain huts and refuges

More than 45 refuges, the highest at 3,454 m above sea level, serve 100% regional food in the National Park Region. The most beautiful huts are often found in alpine pasture areas. They offer a home to people and animals alike. They are the heart of alpine farming, producing excellent homemade specialities that every tired and hungry hiker is happy to taste. A stop at a hut is part of the mountain experience. It is also an important part of Austria’s alpine culture.
