A covered passage in Paris
Covered passages

hey are typical of Parisian architecture, these glass-roofed arcades, most of which were built in the 19th century. 20 of them still exist today. They are located between the Palais Royal and the Grand Boulevards. They house boutiques, delicatessens, tea rooms and restaurants. The Vivienne and Vérot-Dodat galleries outdo each other in terms of luxury and elegance, the Passage des Panoramas with its small restaurants is the oldest passage in Paris, the Passage Verdeau attracts fans and collectors of antiques and the Passage du Caire, the longest in the capital, offers fabrics galore. The Passage du Grand Cerf, on the other hand, impresses with its 12 metre high glass roof. An insider tip for a shopping spree in rainy weather, surrounded by historical charm.

Paris and its islands

The islands of Ile de la Cité and Ile Saint-Louis, connected by a pedestrian bridge, are true oases of peace. They form the heart of Paris, where the foundations of the Celtic settlement of Lutetia were once laid. With their quays, beautiful city palaces, old streets and quiet spots full of romance, they are the favourite meeting place for couples in love. The Ile de la Cité is home to two jewels of Gothic architecture: the iconic Notre-Dame Cathedral and the breathtaking Sainte-Chapelle. On the Ile Saint-Louis you will find another celebrity: the Maison Berthillon, which has been serving the best ice cream in Paris for half a century!
