Vienna

The world capital of music

Immerse yourself in the pulsating heart of Europe.
Let yourself be enchanted by the majestic architecture of the imperial era, accompanied by the melodic sounds of Mozart through the charming alleyways and carried away into a world of pleasure by the rich coffee house culture. Vienna is not just a city, it is the gateway to a bygone era, kept alive in every cobblestone pavement and in every melody that vibrates through the air.

A city trip to Vienna almost obliges you to attend a concert, a musical or an opera.

MuseumsQuartier

The MuseumsQuartier - MQ for short - is one of the largest cultural centres in the world.

The trendy meeting place exudes an urban lifestyle and attracts visitors with its squares, shops, bars and restaurants over an area of 60'000 square metres. The neighbourhood was built on the site of the former imperial court stables and combines old and new, baroque and modern.
There are a total of 4 museums on the site. The white cube of the Leopold Museum houses works by Egon Schiele and is dedicated to Viennese Art Nouveau. The Museum of Modern Art or MuMok and the nearby Kunsthalle present the big names in contemporary art.

Viennese wines in the Heurigen

Did you know that Vienna is the only capital city in the world with a significant wine-growing area within its city limits?

From spring to autumn, it is a tradition in Vienna to meet up at the Heurigen. In these idyllic pubs with a convivial atmosphere, the winegrowers serve their young wines in cosy parlours and secluded gardens, accompanied by delicious food!
Our tip: Mayer am Pfarrplatz

We also recommend a hike through the vines, for example on the Nussberg. The reward there is a glass of wine in the wine tavern of the renowned organic winemaker Wieninger. The view over the whole city will make your heart beat faster.

Coffe house culture

It all began in 1683 with 500 coffee sacks left behind by the Turks as they fled their failed assault on Vienna. In the 19th century, the coffee house became the living room of poets and thinkers. Since 2011, Vienna's coffee houses have been part of UNESCO's intangible world cultural heritage. With over 20 coffee variations, coffee is a cult favourite for Viennese and visitors alike. How about a Melange, a rushed Neumann, a Einspänner or Fiaker?

The beautiful, traditional coffee houses can be found all over the city centre. One example is the classically elegant Café Landtmann, which is considered the oldest coffee house on the Ringstrasse.

Europe's best silversmiths

Jarosinski & Vaugoin has been celebrating the art of silversmithing since 1847. Each piece is made by hand in the traditional Viennese workshop and the manufactory is recognised as one of the best in Europe. The master silversmiths use the precious material silver to create unique pieces of tableware and customised works of art.

Modern tableware collections are also created in collaboration with contemporary designers, which were last honoured with the Design Award from the renowned Wallpaper magazine in 2020.

Vollpension – generation coffee

Where grandma and grandad are passionate about baking cakes for everyone to enjoy. Active pensioners impress with their family recipes and regularly meet other like-minded people of the same age or the members of the service team and customers.

A charming idea that also generates a few extra euros for the pensioners' household budgets. A must-see when visiting Vienna.
