Tour of Corsica by car 11 days

Pick-up of your hire car at the airport. Discover Ajaccio and its wide gulf: Napoleon's birthplace, the pedestrian streets, the old port, the fine sandy beaches, the flamboyant sunset over the Sanguinaires islands. Accommodation for 2 nights at the Hôtel La Pinède*** in Ajaccio, facing the sea.

From Ajaccio, take the coastal road to Porto, via the fabulous calanques of Piana: a great spectacle, this parade of rocks sculpted by the wind and the sea, in the Gulf of Porto, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Beach, hiking, lounging or a boat trip to the Scandola nature reserve: make the most of this site, one of the most beautiful in the Mediterranean. Accommodation for 2 nights in Porto at the Capo d'Orto hotel***, facing the sea.

You'll reach the Balagne, a region full of charm. Take time to appreciate Calvi and its citadel, and the lookout villages of Corbara, Pigna and San Antonino and their crafts. Enjoy the Corsican dolce vita: morning market, afternoon beach, pétanque or an aperitif in the main square of L'Île-Rousse, where you will stay for 2 nights at the Best Western Premier Santa Maria Hotel****, facing the red porphyry islets that give the resort its name.

Via the strange Agriates Desert and the pretty resort of Saint-Florent to Bastia, capital of Haute-Corse. Discover the picturesque citadel, its Baroque churches and its terraces facing the old port. From Bastia, you can visit Cap Corse, with its unspoilt and wild nature: to the east, pretty seaside resorts such as Erbalunga, and to the west, breathtaking cliffs. Accommodation for 2 nights at the Hotel Pietracap**** in Bastia, facing the sea.

On the way south, stop off in Corte: visit Corsica's historic capital, surrounded by the island's highest peaks. Then on over the famous Aiguilles de Bavella to the pretty town of Bonifacio, with its impressive cliffs. Admire them from the sea on a boat trip. Discover also Porto-Vecchio, its citadel and the magnificent surrounding beaches like Palombaggia, Santa Giulia and Rondinara. Accommodation for 2 nights at the Best Western du Roy d'Aragon*** hotel in Bonifacio, opposite the pretty marina.

Rental car return at Figari airport (approx. 18 km) or Ajaccio airport (approx. 125 km) and flight back to Switzerland.
