Tour of Corsica by car 8 days

Fly to Ajaccio and pick up your rental car. Drive to the far south of the island via the typical little town of Sartène to Bonifacio or Porto-Vecchio (approx. 130/140 km). Accommodation for 2 nights.

Visit Bonifacio, an ancient Genoese town perched on impressive cliffs, which you can also discover on a boat trip. Porto-Vecchio, with its harbour, lively upper town and wonderful beaches, is also well worth a visit.

Via the east coast, a vast plain bordered by immense beaches, you reach Corte in the heart of the island. Surrounded by high mountains, the historic capital of Corsica boasts a picturesque old town with its citadel perched on a rocky outcrop. Continue to Bastia, your stopover for 2 nights.

A tour of Cap Corse reveals an unspoilt wilderness, a succession of dizzying peaks, fishing villages nestling at the foot of the hills like Erbalunga and Centuri, and hamlets suspended between sky and sea like Nonza. On the way back, stroll along the pretty quays of Saint-Florent and don't miss Bastia, its old town and lively Vieux Port.

From Bastia, you'll head for Balagne, a region full of charm with pretty hilltop villages like Corbara, Pigna and San Antonino. By the sea, discover L'Île-Rousse, with its large square and covered market, and Calvi in a wide bay dominated by the citadel. Accommodation for 1 night in L'Île-Rousse or Calvi.

On the way to Ajaccio, you will experience one of the highlights of your tour of Corsica: the calanques of Piana and the Gulf of Porto, undoubtedly one of the most beautiful sites in the Mediterranean and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Accommodation in Ajaccio for 2 nights.

Visit Ajaccio, Napoleon's birthplace and capital of southern Corsica: its pedestrian streets and museums, the Old Port and the beautiful beaches in the heart of the city. Don't miss the sunset over the Sanguinaires Islands from the Pointe de la Parata!

Return of the rental car at Ajaccio airport and flight back to Switzerland.
