Above the town is the fortress of San Giorgio with the Cattedrale di Cristo Re. Stairs lead you directly to the Castello with the Archaeological Museum with sculptures and artefacts from Roman times.
If you go down the stairs, you will come directly to the harbour promenade. Here is the imposing Ponte Thaon di Revel bridge in the shape of a boat, which you should definitely cross. -
In the Prione district and in Via Cavour you will find numerous stores with a large selection of Italian fashion and shoes. The food market in Piazza Cavor is also worth a detour.

Fish lovers will find everything that comes from the sea in La Spezia: crustaceans such as scampi, shrimps and crabs, mussels and above all squid (polpi, seppie) and anchovies (acciughe). Fine fish such as sea bream (dorata), swordfish (pesce spada) and sea bass (branzino) are usually prepared on the grill.
