Monte Calvario is one of a total of nine Sacred Mounts in Piedmont and Lombardy and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Plan a little more time for your trip and take the Way of the Cross with its 15 chapels, which winds its way up the Sacro Monte Calvario from Domodossola.

1ˢᵗ day: Arrival in Domodossola

Train journey via Bern/ Spiez on the BLS RegioExpress Lötschberger over the historic mountain line to Brig. The 60 km long line is considered one of the most important and boldest structures in Swiss railway history and impresses with the imposing Kander Viaduct, the hairpin bends around the Felsenburg and the unconventional Bietschtal Bridge near Raron. Continue through the Simplon tunnel to Domodossola (Italy) and free time. We recommend an easy hike up Monte Calvario, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Overnight stay in Domodossola.

Breakfast at the hotel. Domodossola thrives on tourism and trade. The pedestrian zone in the historic centre is surrounded by pretty shops, cafés, restaurants and a few antique shops. There are also some splendid manor houses to marvel at in the ancient alleyways. Individual journey home via Brig.
