Carnival, also known as "Fasching", is something very special in Lucerne and is known far beyond its borders. It is considered the highlight of the numerous events in Lucerne. The spectacle begins at five o'clock in the morning on Dirty Thursday, the Thursday before Rose Monday, and a state of emergency reigns until Ash Wednesday.
