Highlights

The 2128-metre-high mountain is easily reached by cogwheel railway, the highest in Europe by the way, or by gondola. A fantastic view awaits you here. Hiking in summer, tobogganing in winter or just enjoying the good air. By the way, the Christmas market on Mount Pilatus is the highest in Europe. So off to the top of the mountain.
And yet another mountain, the Rigi, a little smaller at 1797 m but a dream, and the queen of the mountains. Up here, a unique recreational paradise awaits you with a dreamlike view. The Rigi is surrounded by no less than 3 lakes and offers more than 100 km of fantastic hiking trails in summer. Even Queen Victoria had herself carried up in a sedan chair.
The Lion Monument, whose dying lion commemorates the hundreds of Swiss Guards who died during the storming of the Tuileries Palace during the French Revolution in 1792, is also very well known.

Carnival, also known as "Fasching", is something very special in Lucerne and is known far beyond its borders. It is considered the highlight of the numerous events in Lucerne. The spectacle begins at five o'clock in the morning on Dirty Thursday, the Thursday before Rose Monday, and a state of emergency reigns until Ash Wednesday.

Start of the GoldenPass Line

When you arrive by train, you will be immediately impressed by this charming town, as you will be right in the middle of the action after just a few metres. If you want to treat yourself to a little more rail travel, add a day and take the spectacular and impressive panoramic train journey on the Goldenpass Line to Montreux. Why not make a detour to the Rosengart Collection, very close to the railway station, before your return journey. Art lovers will get their money's worth here.
