A tour through 650 years of ruling history under one roof
The new House of Habsburg tour in Vienna's Neue Hofburg tells the story of the rise and fall of one of the most powerful European ruling families of the past millennium in a unique way.
At the site of their last ruling and residential residence, the Neue Hofburg, we present imperial stories from the founding fathers of the House of Habsburg to Sisi and provide insights into the world of the emperors.
History of the Habsburgs
From sumptuous armour to the pianoforte on which Mozart once played
The new House-of-Habsburg Tour takes you on a journey through the entire history of the Habsburgs, from the late Middle Ages to the modern era, via armour that was once as valuable as a sports car, a pianoforte on which Mozart once played, and the only wax bust that represents Joseph Haydn identically.
The tour passes through corridors and rooms where the spirit of Sisi floats, as the empress who was assassinated in 1898 never occupied the flats intended for her.

The Neue Hofburg is the most recent and most sumptuous part of the Vienna Hofburg and houses three major collections of the Kunsthistorisches Museum Wien. The Neue Hofburg was designed as an imperial representative building and was also intended to house the flats of the emperor and his family.
