The exhibition "World of Threads" at the Museum of Fine Arts Leipzig shows over 50 impressive tapestries and provides a fascinating overview of the development of tapestry art. From traditional baroque tapestries to contemporary works based on designs by artists such as Louise Bourgeois, Max Ernst and Sonia Delaunay, a polyphonic dialog between art and craft unfolds. An interactive educational program invites visitors to learn more about the complex techniques and cultural significance of this often underestimated art form. The show thus builds a bridge between tradition and modernity - and makes it clear how relevant textile art still is today. It will be on display from December 11, 2025 to April 12, 2026. The MdbK's permanent exhibition includes over 4,600 paintings, 1,800 sculptures, medals and plaques, over 5,000 photographs and over 70,000 works on paper from seven centuries.
