Piacenza

The city of 100 churches

Piacenza, the "pretty one", is a real insider tip off the beaten tourist track. The city lies between the river Po and the Appenine mountain range and its unique microclimate is home to the world-famous pancetta, coppa and Salame Piacentino products, which are simply delicious.

The city also has a lot to offer in terms of culture. The Palazzo Farnese and its museums are a must-see. Carriage museum, weapons museum, glass and ceramics, sculptures, medieval frescoes, art gallery where you can marvel at Botticelli's Tondo and the archaeological museum. Piacenza is also known as "the city of 100 churches", and there is indeed a church to be discovered on almost every corner as you explore the city.
