Trenitalia operates over 7'000 trains a day, including 270 Frecciarossa high-speed train connections, and transports more than half a billion passengers a year.

The NGO Transport & Environment published a ranking of 27 rail companies, which were evaluated according to various criteria such as price-performance ratio, travel experience and reliability. With an overall score of 7.7 out of 10, Trenitalia took first place and, according to the report, offers one of the best value for money of any rail company in Europe.

Travel between cities is made especially easy with the Frecciarossa trains, as they offer an extensive network of connections between the most important Italian cities and guarantee short travel times. Passengers from Switzerland can travel by Eurocity directly from Zurich, Basel or Bern to Milan. Starting in Milan, the Frecciarossa trains offer numerous onward connections to popular Italian cities such as Venice, Florence, Rome and Naples.

Travel classes with Frecciarossa
The Frecciarossa offers different travel classes that are tailored to suit various preferences and guarantee a travel experience at the highest level
To maximize travel comfort, various amenities are already included for all travel classes. These include seat reservations and luggage allowance of up to two pieces of baggage per person (see below for more information on baggages). In addition, free Wi-Fi is available on board, accessible via the Frecciarossa portal. This not only provides internet connection, but also access to the Frecce Entertainment Portal, allowing passengers to enjoy their journey with entertainment and online connectivity. A power socket and air conditioning are also available at every seat.

Executive Class
An exclusive travel experience in 1st class
During the course of your journey in the Executive Class, a welcome drink and a full menu with a main course, a snack and a dessert are served directly at your seat. Executive Class passengers also enjoy the benefit of an open bar.
The champagne-colored individual leather seats can be rotated 180° and guarantee a trip facing the direction of travel. Executive customers also have access to an elegant meeting room with 5 seats.
Passengers in Executive Class also have access to the exclusive FrecciaLounge at some Italian stations. In addition, the “Fast Check-In” offers quick access at the main stations in Rome and Milan.
Business Class
Perfect for 1st class business and leisure travel
A complimentary welcome box with drinks and snacks is served directly at your seat at the beginning of your journey in Business Class (the products on offer vary depending on the time of travel).
The ergonomic leather upholstered seats are arranged in 1 or 2 rows and offer more privacy thanks to the glass partitions between the seats.
Travelers who value absolute relaxation have the option of using the specially designed quiet zone.
Premium Class
A journey with every comfort in 2nd class
Premium Class is ideal for passengers who are looking for extra comfort but are on a smaller budget.
A welcome drink and selected snacks are served directly at your seat at the start of your journey in Premium Class.
The leather seats with reclining backrests are arranged in 4 rows, can be reclined, offer plenty of legroom and provide a quiet atmosphere.
Standard Class
High-speed at low prices in 2nd class
With the Standard Class, you will reach your destination in comfort and at an affordable price.
The upholstered seats, covered in gray artificial leather with orange trim, are arranged in 4 rows and ergonomically designed with folding tables and adjustable backrests.
Luggage
Guidelines and locations for luggage storage
Each person is allowed two pieces of luggage, with no weight limit. Small items of luggage can be stowed in the overhead compartments or parcel shelves above the seats, while larger items of luggage can be stowed in the specially provided trays at the ends of each carriage. Smaller suitcases can also be stowed under the seats.
Bicycles may be carried free of charge on Frecciarossa trains, provided they are stowed in a bag measuring 80 x 110 x 45 cm. Foldable strollers can also be carried free of charge.
Small pets may travel free of charge in transport boxes (max. 70 x 30 x 50 cm). A ticket is required for larger pets and special regulations apply.
