Deutsche Bahn Travel Classes

Deutsche Bahn offers a range of travel classes tailored to your individual needs.

1st Class

Catering: Food and drinks are served directly at your seat.
Seat: Spacious and comfortable single and double seats with extra legroom and additional service. Adjustable and equipped with folding tables. You can choose between a seat in the mobile (phone) area or the quiet zone. Seat reservation in 1st class is included in the ticket price. Power outlets are available at every second seat and at every single seat.
Wi-Fi: Free Wi-Fi
Luggage: Storage areas in the middle of the carriage or on racks above/below your seat
Lounges: Access to DB Lounges at 15 German railway stations. The lounges offer elegant seating areas, complimentary drinks, and Wi-Fi.
ICE Portal: The free infotainment service provides films and series, newspapers and magazines, audiobooks, and podcasts.

2nd Class

Catering: A wide selection of food and drinks awaits you in the onboard bistro or restaurant. Table reservations are possible.
Seat: Double seats. Adjustable and equipped with folding tables. Seat reservations can be made (included in the railtour package). Power outlets are available at every seat.
Wi-Fi: Free Wi-Fi
Luggage: Storage areas in the middle of the carriage or on racks above/below your seat
Lounges: No access
ICE Portal: The free infotainment service offers films and series, newspapers and magazines, audiobooks, and podcasts.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. Small dogs and other small pets up to the size of a domestic cat may travel free of charge in a suitable carrier. For larger dogs, you will need a half-price ticket. Dogs not in a carrier must be kept on a lead and wear a muzzle. Certified assistance dogs and guide dogs travel free of charge and do not require a muzzle.
Yes. On many ICE trains, bikes can only be taken on board if booked in advance. Depending on the train, there are between 8 and 16 spaces available. The bike areas are marked with a bike symbol both inside and outside the train. Different regulations may apply to some local public transport services.
Yes. Passengers with disabilities or reduced mobility may be eligible for discounts and support services, depending on the details on their German Disability Travel Card. Accompanying persons may travel free of charge within Germany if the passenger’s Disability Travel Card includes the appropriate entitlement.
