Rovos Rail - 'Pride of Africa'

The 'Pride of Africa' operated by Rovos Rail is considered one of the most elegant trains in the world. It runs on various routes through southern Africa. The train combines nostalgic charm with modern comfort and offers stylish suites, excellent service and gourmet cuisine. During the journey, passengers enjoy breathtaking scenery, from the Kalahari Desert to the Victoria Falls. The 'Pride of Africa' is a unique opportunity to discover Africa in a luxurious ambience.

Pullman Suite

A suite in the 'Pullman' category offers either a double bed (lengthways to the direction of travel; 190 cm long; 190 cm wide) or two single beds (190 cm long; 75 cm wide). A folding table is attached to one wall. The double bed can be converted into two single day sofa beds during the day. A coach in this category consists of 5 suites, accommodating a maximum of 10 guests.

Deluxe Suite

The comfortable suites in the 'Deluxe' category offer significantly more space for relaxing and inviting fellow travellers. One carriage only accommodates 3 suites, so that a maximum of 6 guests can reside in it. The 23 spacious suites in the 'Deluxe' category are equipped with a double bed (190 cm long; 160 cm wide (perpendicular to the window) or 190 cm wide (parallel to the window)) or two single beds (190 cm long; 75 cm wide). There are also two comfortable chairs, a desk and a minibar.

Royal Suite

Each of the only four 'Royal Suites' comprises half a carriage and is therefore a truly royal size of 16 m². There is no more comfortable way to travel on rails than in these Royal Suites - which are among the largest and certainly the most beautiful train suites in the world. The suites are furnished with a double bed (200 cm long; 190 cm wide) or two single beds (200 cm long; 75 cm wide). A desk, two armchairs and a minibar invite you to relax. The bathroom has a Victorian bathtub and a separate shower.

Dining car and bar car

Delicious African and European specialities are served in the two air-conditioned restaurant cars. Always a special highlight: the dinners, which are served as 3-course meals in one sitting.
In the bar car you can relax with a cool Windhoek Lager or one of the famous South African red wines, listen to on-board lectures by your tour guide, devote yourself to your on-board reading and have stimulating conversations with your fellow travellers.

Lounge car

The rolling veranda of the 'Pride of Africa' is the open viewing platform of the cosy lounge car; a paradise for photographers and nature lovers alike - the unobstructed view of the wilderness not only facilitates sightings of rare animals, it also makes photography particularly attractive. There are no distracting reflections or streaks, as is often the case with pictures taken through window panes, but you are always in direct contact with nature. This turns your journey into a true safari on rails.
