Day 1: Singapore
After departure from Singapore-Woodlands, make yourself comfortable in your air-conditioned compartment and marvel at the passing Malaysian landscape. Later, you will be served dinner in one of the luxurious dining cars. Day 2: Langkawi
During breakfast in the dining car, you can enjoy the view as the train passes the rice fields and timeless rural villages of West Malaysia. After lunch, disembark at Alor Setar station for a 25-minute boat ride to Pulau Payar Marine Park on Langkawi, known for its underwater life. Here you will be provided with a luxury picnic set and can choose from a range of activities. Relax with wellness experiences such as massages, meditation and Tai Chi, try paddle boarding and snorkeling or go on an island hike. With a friendly welcome from the locals and access to a bar for cocktails and a BBQ, your stay on this island is a true paradise.Return to the train in the afternoon. View the varied landscape from the open observation car as the train continues its journey. Dinner and overnight stay on board.

Day 3: Langkawi - Penang
Today you arrive on the island of Penang, Malaysia's cultural melting pot, where you have a choice of excursions. The first is a discovery of the culinary art of Peranakan cuisine, where you'll visit a spice store and a traditional grocery store to buy herbs and vegetables before trying your hand at preparing some tantalizing local dishes. The second tour is for culture and art lovers and takes you to the old town of Georgetown, where you can visit impressive temples, a contemporary studio and an opera and puppet house. And finally, you can also explore the city on your own. Equipped with a map, a Tri-Shaw and a driver, you can visit Georgetown's picturesque streets at your own pace. Your driver will take you wherever you want to go. You re-board the train at Butterworth for lunch and a leisurely afternoon on board. A final festive evening of irresistible cuisine, entertainment and company awaits. If you're still awake just after midnight, you can catch a glimpse of Kuala Lumpur as the train passes through.

Day 4: Johor -Singapore
Enjoy breakfast in your cabin or in the dining car as you travel through the southernmost state of Johor, known for its beaches and rainforest. Soon after, the train crosses the strait to Singapore, where you disembark with your magical memories.

- Meals on board: All table d'hôtes menus are included in the cruise price. A supplement must be paid for à la carte menus. Special dietary dishes are available on request if this is communicated at the time of booking. Lunch and dinner are served in the restaurant cars. Breakfast with croissants, fruit, coffee, tea and fruit juice is brought to your cabin every day. Meals are prepared exclusively in the galley. The chefs conjure up Western and Eastern menus from local and fresh ingredients.

- Entry requirements: To enter Malaysia, every traveler needs a digital entry permit, which must be requested 72 hours in advance.
- Note: If you opt for the Malaysian Essence trip in the winter months, you can interrupt the train journey in Langkawi and enjoy the magnificent sandy beaches at a beach resort there for seven days before taking the Eastern & Oriental Express back to Singapore.
