The story
The musical is set in Paris in 1899, a world of lavish beauty and unparalleled extravagance, of bohemians and aristocrats, but also of vice and sin. It tells the story of Christian, a lovesick writer, and Satine, the dazzling star of the Moulin Rouge nightclub. When their lives collide at the Moulin Rouge, they fall in love, but are prevented from being together by the host and the Duke of Monroth. Monroth, the club's wealthy and demanding patron, believes he can buy anything he wants, including Satine. Together with his bohemian friends, Christian stages a musical spectacle to save the Moulin Rouge and win Satine's heart.

Moulin Rouge! The Musical features many of the iconic songs from the 2001 film, as well as new additions by music supervisor, orchestrator, and arranger Justin Levine.
