Highlights
-
White villas with turrets, wooden decorations and sea-view balconies line the promenades of Ahlbeck, Heringsdorf and Bansin - an architectural legacy dating back to the elegant summer resorts of the 19th century. Lovingly restored, they still characterize the image of the «Kaiserbäder» today.
-
The pier in Ahlbeck is the oldest surviving structure of its kind in Germany - and a popular postcard motif. With its turrets and striking bridge house, it has been extending some 280 meters into the Baltic Sea since 1898. Both then and now, it is an inviting place for a stroll. The nostalgic architecture and special atmosphere have made it a landmark of the island of Usedom.
-
In the Achterland of Usedom you can see the quiet, untouched side of the island. Rolling hills, lakes, villages and fields characterize the landscape between the Achterwasser and the lagoon. Thatched roofs, old manor houses and small harbors invite you to linger. Towns such as Benz with its traditional windmill or the artists' village of Loddin represent the peaceful, authentic side of Usedom.
-
Indulge in the warm hospitality of the locals and the delicious regional cuisine. Usedom is more than just a vacation destination - it's a place where memories come alive.
Enjoy freshly caught fish, especially the famous Usedom lake trout and tender pikeperch, served in many restaurants. Try local specialties such as Usedom fish buns - a must for every visitor!
A highlight are the numerous small cafés and beach bistros overlooking the Baltic Sea ideal for relaxing. Local beers, artisan lemonades and wines from the region are served here.
