Corte

Corsican soul

Perched on its rocky outcrop, the proud city at the centre of Corsica is also at the heart of its history: it was the seat of the ‘Corsican Nation’ under Pascal Paoli from 1755 to 1769. Today, Corte is home to the Museum of Corsica and the island's only university. The surrounding peaks are no less proud: at an altitude of over 2,000 m, the Rotondo, Cinto and d'Oro mountains form a crown of wild gorges, from which rushing torrents gush forth. Wonderful walks await you from Corte. It's here, in the interior of the island, that you'll find the Corsican soul.
