Surrounded by 5km of fine sandy beaches, the wide bay of Calvi is dominated by a proud Genoese citadel. From the ramparts, it's just a few steps to the lively lower streets. Walk along the quays of the marina, past passing yachts and pretty terraces. A few more steps and you'll be laying your towel on the fine sand, facing the citadel, with the line of snow-capped mountains on the horizon until May.
