Bonifacio
Bonifacio is first and foremost a port nestling in a fjord, with numerous terraces around which to admire the comings and goings of yachts and pleasure boats. From here, take the staircase up to the citadel, the ‘upper town’ as it is known here. Cross the narrow streets lined with tall houses. Finally, under the ramparts, take the staircase down to the little beach. Look up and see the houses perched on the limestone cliffs 60 metres above you. Bonifacio seems to be standing on empty space!
